ClearPath Tutoring is the tutoring product in the ClearPath line. It’s an AI tutor your school owns and runs, for grades 2 to 12. Her name is Ava. She teaches the way a good tutor does. She asks before she explains, works one step at a time, and won’t do a student’s graded work for them. When a student stays stuck, she goes and gets that student’s own teacher. She was built inside a Cognia-accredited school and is used there every day. You pay per student, and your staff are free.
When a child is stuck, Ava sends their teacher a note.
Every AI tutor will tell you when a child says something unsafe. Most will show you, later, that a class found something hard. Ava does something different. When a student is still struggling after she’s tried to help, she sends that student’s own teacher for that subject a note with the session attached: what they worked on, where they got stuck, and what to try next.
The decision is made on our servers, reading the session as it happens. The student can’t switch it off, skip it, or talk their way out of it. It works at nine at night when nobody is watching, which is when children actually get stuck.
If a student ever says something that suggests they’re not safe, that goes to your safeguarding lead straight away, ahead of everything else.
She asks before she explains.
Ava doesn’t hand out answers. She finds out what the student already knows, then works through the problem one step at a time, checking understanding as she goes. She adjusts her tone, her pace and how much she scaffolds by grade band, so a third grader and an eleventh grader get a different tutor from the same product. Your school can tune those settings for each band.
Math and science render properly, with a scratchpad the student can work in. A student can paste or photograph the real worksheet in front of them, and Ava reads it and teaches from it.
She remembers what each student is working on
Ava keeps a record for every student: which concepts are solid, which are still developing, the mistakes they tend to make, and how they like to be taught. The next session picks up where the last one left off. A student who’s been away gets a welcome back that knows what they were doing.
The memory belongs to the student and never includes their name. Ava knows what you were working on, not who you are.
Ava teaches from your own unit plans and pacing guides
Share the pages your classes actually work from, and Ava teaches the method on them, in your words. Your terms, your order of topics, your way of explaining it. A student who learned the bar model in class gets the bar model from Ava, not a different method from somewhere else.
Homework help that doesn’t do the homework
Ava won’t complete graded work, and she says why. She’ll help a student understand the question, but she won’t write the essay or solve the set. If a student keeps trying to get answers out of her, that’s recorded and shown to staff, because it’s a conversation for a teacher to have.
Every message a student sends is screened before Ava sees it. The tutor and the screen are separate, so safety never lowers the quality of the teaching.
Talk or type
Students can type to Ava or talk to her out loud, with captions on. Voice follows the same rules as text: the same refusals, the same screening, the same escalation to a teacher. No recording of a child’s voice is ever kept. Voice is an option you add on top of the seat price.
Ava answers each student in the language they write in, and switches with them mid lesson. Your school chooses the language its staff notes and its interface appear in. The contract is in English. The tutoring doesn’t have to be.
Your school gets its own link, with your name, your colour and your crest. You can call the tutor whatever you like. Ava is the default.

Staff sign in to their own page and see:
- The escalation queue, with each session attached and a button to mark it resolved, so a question about whether somebody acted has an answer.
- Who’s using tutoring and who isn’t. Sessions, subjects, active time, and days since each student last came back. A student who’s gone quiet is flagged, and so is a student who never started. Quiet is the failure that kills AI tutoring, and Ava puts it in front of a teacher rather than hiding it in an average.
- The consent queue, so no child is tutored before a lawful basis is on file.
- Nine reports a head teacher can download, each carrying its own caveats.
- Every student’s full transcript, readable by staff and by that student, and nobody else.
Nothing to install.
Everyone signs in with the school account they already have, Google or Microsoft, so there’s no Ava password to forget. Bring your roster your way: a OneRoster export from your student information system, a simple spreadsheet, or a Google Classroom import. Accounts are created at import, so your administrator can see who can sign in before anybody tries. Nobody the school hasn’t rostered can get in, whatever account they arrive with.
If you run Canvas, Schoology or another LMS, students can launch Ava from inside a course through LTI 1.3 and arrive already signed in.
Consent comes first, and the database enforces it.
